IMG Basketball Looks to Take Advantage of Nationals Invite
Another sport in our little slice of athletic heaven is eyeing a National Championship. IMG was recently invited to GEICO Nationals, an elite tournament in which they won in 2019 producing basketball’s first championship in school history.
The Ascenders will enter the tournament starting April 1st sporting a glamorous 20-2 record with their only losses coming from Florida foe Montverde Academy and Kansas powerhouse Sunrise Christian Academy. IMG will look for redemption as both teams were invited alongside the Ascenders in the 10-team tournament field.
Head coach Sean McAloon, who was the coach of the historic 31-1 2019 team, looks to lead his team back to the top of the prep basketball world. His team has been extremely impressive once again this season.
Senior power forward Moussa Diabate, a Michigan signee ranked 15th in the 2021 class according to 247 Sports, has positioned the team in a great place thus far this season. Diabate was also recently named a McDonald’s High School Basketball All American. Following Diabate are standout juniors Jaden Bradley and Eric Dailey.
The team only sports 4 seniors on its roster, making the team younger than average. This will bode well for IMG in the next few seasons. IMG Basketball looks to become the second sport joining football to win a National Championship in the 2020-2021 school year.
